S/S14 - Going Urban Native!

For this Spring/Summer, sourcing some key pieces from the online fashion stores to add to your S/S14 wardrobe, there's the spring style main - Florals with Muted tones and Colour pops against different textures from Denim, Chiffon, to Leather mixed with Sheer pieces...People who are techno-savvy with an Urban Native spirit who know exactly where they want to be and what makes there place a better world. A slow greener place for fast city living, the style reflects just that......

Urban Native

De-clutter, slow down and re-connect with life. Combining nature and city-life with ease. Live how you want to live, in a more turned-on now, satisfying and relaxed way.

For this S/S14 season you need to start by De-cluttering your closet like I will be doing today, and keeping pieces for this season and when your out shopping add to it with muted colour's, bright colours, shapes and florals.

The palette is very colourful and has a nature/earthy vibe with lots of patterns like geometric shapes and painterly prints, with energy, graffti and a blooming vitality. Think:- HAUTE CASUAL

Accent in colour and use pastel pieces and accentuate them with a strong and brighter shade, but other days use colours that will blend into the suburban background as a sophistication of nature with the muted tones such as greys and add texture with denim's and leathers.

In Spring layer up with cami's, sheer tops and jackets and Summer choose one piece and work around it by contrasting.

TOPSHOP'S key pieces to URBAN NATIVE!

Earrings-£12.50
Top-£35
Skirt-£34
Shoes-£58
Bag-£28
Mac-£48
Beenie-£10
Sunglasses-£16
Necklace-£5
Belt-£16

Firstly picking out the pink pastel floral top that has a vintage feel I wanted to work around it by modernizing it with most of the urban native looks and added the same colour palette with the skirt, but the brighter pink tones and pattern creates a bolder look and cool clashing to stand out. To add to it for spring the Mac adds to the blooming vitality of the outfit and brings in more pastel colour with the yellow and to accentuate it I've chosen a brighter more lime-yellow with the shoes and pattern clashing clutch. The jewellery and sunnies are keeping the femininity but the hat and belt add street wear style for that urban cool vibe.

Pastels, greys and powder puff pinks, Zara's got a great selection to go Urban Native from these beautiful  muted palettes and textures to painterly and graffiti prints and also they have some amazing brighter colour popping pieces from bags to tops to shoes, they will be sure to catch attention. Mix these classic Zara picks with brighter colours and pastels from other high street stores and even if your a vintage lover, rare charity shop buys would be great to add a retro vibe!

HAIR AND BEAUTY - THE UNDONE LOOK!

For Spring/Summer 2014 Wella Professionals see's the emerge of the UNDONE LOOK. It's the perfect easy going style that's desirable as it never looks like your trying to hard. Create chic and casual with an undone texture that's free flowing, hair shapes have a feel of grown out contours of lived in movement. Natural, frothy, and foamy the textures are sublimely undone as if by nature's sun, wind and water. Different degrees of colour density and high-lights.
Blondes to be in creamy nude tones to faded brights, Red heads have a stonewashed feel with corals and denim reds and Brunettes come alive with geometric shape to create softness in the cool/ash colour.
The 'Undone' look is very effortless and worn in to create light weight free flowing movement that has a tact-tile feel and not to much product. There is a dustiness throught the colour.

CREATE HAIR THAT LASTS.

Urban Native Men!

Keeping with the same palettes and styles as the female species, floral patterned T-shirts are a big hit this season for the guys and instead of brighter colours go with the more muted shades to blend in with the city. Hair wise - If your a guy with long hair, go to a cool salon and ask them for a surfer feel with high-lights for a more sun washed effect to get that 'summer vibe in Cornwall riding the waves' type of feel. If you have short hair effortlessly quiff it up, not too much product though it needs to look UNDONE, more natural colour is good to add depth with a slightly lighter tone when it hits the natural light. Personally with guys hair I'm more of a fan of the mod fringes and slicked styles also in the clothing area too, you can add that to the Urban Native spirit. I've searched the web in the guys section to pick out items to be getting down with the kids effortlessly and cool but still adding my personal preference to how I like a guy's clothes....

T-shirt-£25 Topman, Boots-£69 River Island, T-shirt-£18 River Island, Sunglasses-£135 Rayban@Urban Outfitters, Jacket-£125 Luke, Polo-£60 Fred Perry, T-shirt-£20 Topman, Top-£22 Topman, Shirt-£70 Fred Perry, Jeans-£55 Cheap Monday, Blazer-£75 Asos, Boots-£45 Asos, Denim Jacket-£55 Urban Outfitters, Backpack-£45 Lyle&Scott, Hat-£14 Urban Outfitters.

Floral patterns, aztec and geometric shapes with band print tee's mixed with muted denims and nature coloured shoes. A pop of colour in only the odd item keeping it simple will work better on men than a lot of different colours.
